The school was launched in Rochester House, 36 Maritzburg Street, Jeppestown, downtown Johannesburg, with the aim of fighting children abuse and neglect and poverty. The building was evicted in June the following year, and back then the school had enlisted 45 learners. The eviction led to a lot of children dropping out and only 15 of them remained.

But because of the founders’ passion and love for children the school found a new home at 15 Park Street, Jeppestown, and operated from there for nine (9) months. The founders were still not satisfied with the new home and in search of better space for the children, The Little Roses Day Care & Pre-School moved to 275 Main Street in 2005 and that is where we have been situated ever since.

The Little Roses started with nothing. No knowledge of running a pre-school, no financial back-up, no resources, no coach, no mentor, no adviser but a passion and love for children. We are now registered with the Social Services Department as a non-profit organisation and a place of care. We are also registered with SARS as an organisation that’s exempted from paying tax. Lastly, we are registered with the Department of Health, the Department of Education and the Department of Labour.
